Introducing Pimp My Pencil, a unique and innovative design by Matthias Krissmayr that allows you to personalize your ordinary pencil with a set of 3D printed add-ons. Inspired by the desire to explore the possibilities of 3D printing and inject some fun into everyday office life, Krissmayr has created a collection of small, functional objects that can be attached to a standard hexagonal pencil.
The Pimp My Pencil set includes a variety of add-ons, all 3D printed using laser and nylon powder technology. The set features a USB stick, a cutter, a compass, a catapult, an LED light, a licorice stick, cutlery, a paper clip, and a screwdriver. Each item is meticulously designed to fit seamlessly onto the pencil, enhancing its functionality and adding a touch of personality.
With dimensions no larger than 5cm, these add-ons are compact and convenient. They come neatly packaged in a cardboard box no bigger than an A5 paper, making them easy to carry and store. The high level of precision achieved through 3D printing ensures that each piece is of the utmost quality.
Created during the winter semester of 2013/2014 at the Free University of Bozen Bolzano, Pimp My Pencil is the result of extensive research into the capabilities of 3D printing. Krissmayr aimed to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with this technology while also incorporating an element of fun and creativity.
Overcoming the challenge of fitting multiple functions into such small objects, Krissmayr has successfully created a set of add-ons that not only enhance the functionality of a pencil but also bring joy and excitement to the user. The Pimp My Pencil design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, winning the Silver A' Design Award in the Art and Stationery Supplies category in 2016.
Experience the endless possibilities of 3D printing and add a touch of personality to your everyday writing instrument with Pimp My Pencil. Let your creativity shine and make a statement with this unique and customizable design.
